ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture is a healing art that has been used in China for thousands of years. An acupuncturist diagnoses and treats the body based on the theory that our body and life processes are a unified system of energetic relationships. Central to this energetic theory is the concept of Qi ( “chee”)—the basic life force. Qi flows through specific pathways in the body called meridians. These meridians and their numerous branches form an energetic network which traverses the entire body and joins together all of its organ systems. Along each meridian ’s course, near the surface of the body, are points at which the Qi is most accessible for stimulation. To stimulate these points, thin, sterile needles are inserted at specific points determined by the acupuncturist ’s examination and diagnosis. When Qi—the life force—is blocked or out of balance, diseases and disorders develop. The purpose of acupuncture is to move and balance the Qi, thus restoring health and harmony in the body.

BODYWORK - CRANIOSACRAL
CranioSacral therapy involves gentle, subtle hands-on work to balance the system of membranes connecting the cranium and sacrum bones and the cerebrospinal fluid which bathes the brain and spinal cord. Imbalances in this area can effect the central nervous system. There are different schools of this therapy —the Fluid Model Sutherland Sills Craniosacral Therapy, Osteopathic Craniosacral Therapy, and Upledger CranioSacral Therapy. The Fluid Model and Osteopathic Therapies are similar, but only doctors can practice Osteopathic Craniosacral Therapy.

NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE
Naturopathic medicine treats health conditions by utilizing the body’s inherent ability to heal. It involves a variety of therapies including diet, herbs, homeopathy, hydrotherapy and more. There are six basic principles to Naturopathic medicine: to work with the healing power of nature; to treat the cause rather than the effect; to first, do no harm; to treat the whole person; to have the physician be a teacher; and that prevention is the best cure. Many Naturopathic doctors  practice Family Medicine/Whole Family care.
