Ideal Specs for Ad Submissions to the Upper Valley Guide:
1) Completed ads in Quark XPress 6.0 or earlier with all fonts (no trutype) and
supporting files provided
2) PDF files with ALL fonts embedded; – this is critical as this is usually the most common error from PageMaker
created PDF files) and all RGB files converted to grayscale before exporting.
(This is usually due to the fact that most scanners are automatically set to
RGB and not everyone notices that it can be changed.)
3) Jpeg or tiff files of completed ads
4) Camera ready ads or business cards – black and white line art and type only – no screens, gradations, or preprinted photos due to scanning process. (If a
card has art and type, it ends up being scanned twice and being put back
together in Quark.)
5) Photo prints, or digital files of photos at least 300 dpi. Although digital
print outs are acceptable, there is no guarantee on reproduction due to
rescanning
6) Artwork on disk that is scanned at it's final size, at least 600 dpi
